The production, written by Harrison David Rivers, explores the complex dynamics of a young Black writer and his white activist lover, delving into the question, "What is the real cost of standing on the sidelines?"
About This Bitter Earth
This Bitter Earth follows Jesse, a Black writer, and Neil, his white activist partner, as they navigate love, politics, and identity. The play examines the personal and social costs of standing by as the world around them shifts. The thought-provoking piece promises to be a deeply emotional and timely reflection on race, activism, and relationships.

This production marks the first development project for award-winning producer Thomas Hopkins through his independently owned company. The show is produced in association with Jana Robbins, Craig Haffner, Sherry Wright, Alex Deacon, Jonathan Kaldor, and Kohl Beck, as well as John Rogerson and Sarig Peker.
