Complete Cast Announced for West End Transfer of Giant Starring John Lithgow

The full cast has been confirmed for the West End transfer of Giant, Mark Rosenblatt’s critically acclaimed play, following its sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre.

Set in 1983, the drama unfolds over a single afternoon as Roald Dahl faces the fallout from his antisemitic remarks amid the impending publication of The Witches. The play examines accountability and the power of public rhetoric, offering a thought-provoking insight into a defining moment in the author’s life.

Star-Studded West End Cast

As previously announced, two-time Tony Award winner John Lithgow (The Crown, 3rd Rock from the Sun) will reprise his role as Roald Dahl, joined by returning cast members:

  • Elliot Levey (Cabaret, The Lehman Trilogy) as Tom Maschler, Dahl’s publisher

  • Rachael Stirling (The Divine Mrs S) as Felicity Crosland, Dahl’s partner

  • Richard Hope (Hijack) as Wally Saunders, Dahl’s friend and legal advisor

  • Tessa Bonham Jones (Dune: Prophecy) as Hallie, a key figure in Dahl’s life

New to the cast is Aya Cash (The Boys, Welcome to Wrexham), making her West End debut as Jessie Stone, a US publisher navigating the controversy.

Acclaimed Creative Team

The production is directed by Nicholas Hytner (The History Boys, The Crucible) and designed by Bob Crowley (The Inheritance, An American in Paris). Lighting design is by Anna Watson, sound design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite, and casting by Arthur Carrington.

When it premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, Giant received widespread praise, with John Lithgow’s performance described as "terrific". The production went on to receive nominations for WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards.

West End Run & Ticket Information

Giant will play at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 26 April to 2 August 2025, with an official opening on 1 May.

The production is presented in the West End by Brian and Dayna Lee, Stephanie Kramer and Nicole Kramer, Josh Fiedler, and Robyn Goodman.
