Full Casting Announced for Backstroke at Donmar Warehouse

The Donmar Warehouse has revealed the full cast for the highly anticipated world premiere of Anna Mackmin’s new play, Backstroke. The production opens on 14 February 2025 in central London, with previews beginning on 8 February.

The Cast

Joining the previously announced stars Tamsin Greig (Episodes, Friday Night Dinner) and Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Calendar Girls) are:

  • Lucy Briers (Wolf Hall, Pride and Prejudice).

  • Anita Reynolds (Doctors, The Wife of Willesden).

  • Georgina Rich (Consent, The Fall).

Additionally, the production will include filmed scenes featuring:

  • Chloe Hart (Hairspray, Heathers).

  • Rhashan Stone (Keeping Faith, Strike).

About Backstroke

Written by Anna Mackmin, Backstroke delves into the fraught yet tender relationship between a mother and daughter. Tamsin Greig stars as Bo, while Celia Imrie plays her daughter, Beth. The story explores the complex interplay between the practical demands of their present lives and the emotional weight of their shared history.
