David Tennant and More Join An Oak Tree for 20th Anniversary Staging

The critically acclaimed 20th-anniversary production of Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree has announced a stellar lineup of guest artists. The play, which explores grief, suggestion, and the power of the mind, will see Crouch performing alongside a different guest artist at each performance. The identity of the guest artist will only be revealed to the audience on the night.

About An Oak Tree

  • Written and Directed by Tim Crouch

  • Presented by: Francesca Moody Productions in association with the Young Vic

  • Performance Dates: 6 to 24 May 2025

  • The Story: An Oak Tree follows the story of a father who has lost his daughter in a car accident and the driver of the car, who is also a stage hypnotist. The two men meet when the father volunteers for the hypnotist's act, and the play delves into grief, suggestion, and the power of the mind.

The play pioneered the theatrical concept of the "cold-read," where the guest artists enter the story without prior knowledge of the script, creating a unique performance experience for each night.
