Full Cast and Creative Team Announced for Marie and Rosetta UK Premiere
The highly anticipated UK premiere of George Brant’s Marie and Rosetta has revealed its full cast and creative team. Co-produced by Rose Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, and English Touring Theatre, this production tells the story of gospel and blues singer Rosetta Tharpe and her protégé, Marie Knight. The play celebrates Tharpe’s pivotal role in the development of rock ’n’ roll and showcases the powerful bond between these two trailblazing women.
Cast Announcement for Marie and Rosetta
Beverley Knight, renowned for her exceptional vocal talent, will make her professional play debut as Rosetta Tharpe. Joining her on stage is Ntombizodwa Ndlovu, who will make her London stage debut as Marie Knight, Tharpe’s musical partner and protégé.
The cast also includes an ensemble of talented performers who will bring the story of these iconic figures to life, ensuring an unforgettable theatre experience.

Production Dates and Locations
Marie and Rosetta will play at the Rose Theatre from 2 to 24 May 2025 before transferring to Chichester Festival Theatre from 25 June to 26 July 2025. The production promises to be a celebration of the legacy of these two legendary women, with a stunning mix of live music, powerful performances, and engaging storytelling.
