Full Cast Announced for Cul-de-Sac, a New Play by David Shopland

The Omnibus Theatre in Clapham, London, will host the world premiere of Cul-de-Sac, the latest play from acclaimed playwright David Shopland, this May. Running from Tuesday 27th May to Saturday 14th June 2025, the production is set to provide a sharp, unflinching look at the millennial suburbanite experience.

The full cast for the production has been announced, and it includes:

  • Shereen Roushbaiani as Ruth Townsend, a character grappling with deep personal questioning, bringing her experience from Saving Britney (WhatsOnStage Award-nominated one-woman show) and Midsummer Murders (ITV).

  • Ellis J. Wells as Frank Townsend, struggling with a suburban identity crisis, known for A Midsummer Night’s Dream (nominated for Best Actor at KCACTF).

  • Lucy Farrett as Marie Gilchrist, playing a character holding a secret that could unravel everything, with notable TV appearances in Sally4Ever (HBO/Sky) and Genius: Einstein (National Geographic).

  • Callum Patrick Hughes as Simon Waller, dealing with a personality he can't define, recognized for his role in Godspell (Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch).

  • Behkam Salehani as Hamza Al-Haytham, whose character’s role will reveal hidden complexities.

About the Play

Set in Northwood Hills, Zone 6 London, Cul-de-Sac takes place over the course of a single evening. It follows four characters whose quiet night of introspection quickly disintegrates into chaos. Ruth is questioning her life choices, Simon is struggling with his sense of self, Marie is hiding a devastating secret, and Frank simply wants his driveway back. The play is a biting commentary on the broken millennial suburbanite experience, using humor, chaos, and unflinching honesty to explore the fissures beneath the seemingly calm exterior of suburban life.
