London Transport Museum Premieres New Theatre Show for Children: Transport Explorers: A Live Show

The London Transport Museum is set to premiere a brand-new family-friendly production, Transport Explorers: A Live Show, this May half-term at the museum’s Cubic Theatre. Designed for children aged 5 to 11, the show is an exciting mix of comedy, science demonstrations, and audience interaction, providing a fun yet educational experience.

Transport Explorers: A Live Show – A Journey Through Time and Transport Challenges

The hour-long production takes young audiences on an engaging journey as two trainee engineers race against the clock to solve transport challenges from London’s past, present, and future. The show aims to inspire curiosity in children about the science and engineering behind the city's transport network, encouraging them to think critically about the ways it has evolved and continues to shape London.

This new performance is part of the Transported by Culture initiative under the direction of Elizabeth McKay, the museum’s director and CEO. McKay expressed her excitement about expanding the museum’s offerings for families, highlighting how the show brings the museum’s collection to life in an interactive and engaging way.

Cast and Creative Team Behind Transport Explorers

The show will star Hattie Manton as Jesse and James Georgiou Zach as Kai, the two main trainee engineers. Kirsty Jackson will serve as the understudy.

Aimed at Sparking Curiosity About Transport

Elizabeth McKay shared her excitement about the upcoming show, emphasizing how Transport Explorers will help ignite children’s curiosity about STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The production focuses on the engineering innovations that have shaped London’s transport system, making it one of the world’s most iconic networks.

McKay added: “What better place to showcase these stories on stage than at London Transport Museum, right in the heart of Covent Garden Piazza?”

Performance Dates and Ticket Information

The show will run from 27 May to 1 June, with a press performance on 29 May. Following its opening, Transport Explorers: A Live Show will also be performed during school holidays for the rest of the year.
