Matilda The Musical to Play Milton Keynes Theatre in Autumn 2026

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s multi-award-winning production of Matilda The Musical is set to play at Milton Keynes Theatre from Wednesday 28 October to Saturday 14 November 2026 as part of its upcoming UK and Ireland tour.

Celebrating 15 years on stage, the internationally acclaimed production will open at Curve, Leicester, on 6 October 2025, before travelling to venues across the country.

Priority booking for Milton Keynes will open at 11 AM on Monday 24 March, with general booking available from 11 AM on Wednesday 26 March.

A Record-Breaking Musical Sensation

Since its West End debut at the Cambridge Theatre, Matilda The Musical has played to packed houses worldwide, reaching over 12 million people across 100 cities. The production has won over 100 global awards, including 24 Best Musical accolades.

Adapted into a film musical in 2022, the screen version, created by the original creative team, premiered at the London Film Festival and is now available on Netflix.

The anarchic and inspiring story follows the courageous and determined young heroine Matilda Wormwood, whose imagination, intelligence, and bravery help her rewrite her own story.

Reactions from the Creative Team

Dennis Kelly (Writer):

“It’s great to get the chance to bring this little girl’s story to people in their home cities and towns, and to all those theatres where theatre really matters.”

Tim Minchin (Composer & Lyricist):

“We never imagined that all these years later it would still be running in the West End, have been made into a film, and is now about to embark on its second tour of the UK and Ireland. I’m deeply proud of Matilda The Musical, and every single talented person who continues to work on it with passion and enthusiasm.”

Matthew Warchus (Director):

“I’m delighted that our production of Matilda The Musical is about to be seen live by a whole new generation of children and families in theatres across the UK and Ireland. It’s a show we’re really proud of, and an inspiring story of courage that we really care about.”

RSC Co-Artistic Directors Daniel Evans & Tamara Harvey:

“After its premiere so many years ago in Stratford-upon-Avon, Matilda Wormwood’s genius is still teaching us that 'sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty’. We can’t wait to share her story with audiences up and down the country.”
