Sheffield Theatres Announces 2025/26 Season

Sheffield Theatres is set to dazzle audiences with a dynamic mix of new work, revivals, and immersive community events in its 2025/26 season. With productions staging across its two main venues—the Crucible Theatre and the Tanya Moiseiwitsch Playhouse—and access to the historic Lyceum and newly acquired Montgomery Theatre just a short walk away, there’s something for every theatre lover in this year-long programme.

Dancing at Lughnasa Revival

  • Production: Brian Friel’s classic drama

  • Details: A co-production with the Royal Exchange Theatre, this production will be performed in-the-round with an opening night in Sheffield on 18 September.

My Brother’s A Genius

  • Playwright: Debris Stevenson

Crown of Blood – A Yoruba Adaptation of Macbeth

  • Playwright: Oladipo Agboluaje

The Ladies Football Club

Living

  • Playwright: Leo Butler

  • Synopsis: This homecoming piece from the award-winning Sheffield playwright delves into themes of belonging and renewal.

Summer Holiday

  • Inspiration: Based on the 1960s film

  • Run Dates: 20 June – 18 July 2026 (official opening on 25 June)

  • Synopsis: A vibrant summer production that brings beachside nostalgia and community celebration to the stage, complete with live events that spill out into the city.

Looking Ahead

  • Coming in 2027: Sunjeev Sahota’s novel, The Year of the Runaways, will be adapted for the stage by Stephanie Street.
