Wicked Lands Four Golden Globe Nominations

The first instalment of Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, has garnered four Golden Globe nominations, solidifying its status as one of the year’s most celebrated films.

Nominations and Box Office Success

  • Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda) received acting nods for their performances.

  • The film is up for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the story explores the friendship of two university students in Oz, whose paths lead them to become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, creators of the Broadway hit, teamed up with Dana Fox to adapt the screenplay.

Released on 22 November, Wicked: Part One dazzled audiences and critics alike. Fans won’t have to wait long for the next chapter—Part Two is set to hit cinemas on 21 November 2025.
