The Mousetrap Celebrates Guinness World Record-Breaking 30,000th Performance
The Mousetrap, Agatha Christie’s iconic murder mystery, has officially celebrated its 30,000th performance in the West End today, a landmark achievement recognised by Guinness World Records. The production has now secured its place in history as the longest-running theatrical production in the world.
A Historic Moment for The Mousetrap
The Guinness World Records adjudicator, Will Munford, presented the company with a certificate marking the milestone of 30,000 performances. Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap first opened in 1952 and continues to captivate audiences more than 70 years later, solidifying its position as one of the most successful and enduring plays in theatrical history.
Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, commented on the achievement:
“[We’ve] monitored this category from the very first edition in 1955. The Mousetrap overtook the previous holder in 1958, making it one of the all-time longest-standing world records.”
