Starring Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter, this marks the first time the renowned mother-daughter duo will share the stage together, playing the roles of Mrs. Kitty Warren and Vivie Warren respectively. About the Production
Mrs Warren’s Profession was first staged in 1902 and was banned for 30 years by the Lord Chamberlain for its controversial subject matter, which critiques the hypocrisy and corruption of the English class system. The play focuses on the relationship between a mother, a former prostitute turned successful businesswoman, and her daughter, a young woman who is unaware of her mother’s past. When Vivie learns the truth, her beliefs about society, class, and family are challenged.
