The Hunger Games Stage Adaptation to Premiere in London in 2025

The highly anticipated stage adaptation of The Hunger Games will officially open at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in October 2025. This marks the first-ever live theatre version of Suzanne Collins’ globally popular novel, bringing the world of Panem to the stage in a thrilling, immersive production.

A New Theatrical Take on The Hunger Games

Adapted by award-winning playwright Conor McPherson (Girl from the North Country) and directed by Matthew Dunster (2:22 – A Ghost Story), the stage version will provide a unique and faithful retelling of Collins’ first novel.

Unlike the blockbuster film series, this adaptation is being developed as a theatrical spectacle, designed for a 360-degree, in-the-round audience experience at the new 1,200-seat Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre.

Collins has praised McPherson’s adaptation for offering something distinct from the film while staying true to the novel, stating:

“Matthew’s immersive, dynamic staging gives the audience a brand-new way to experience the story.”

Director Matthew Dunster added:

“We want to bring audiences something as impactful and edgy as Suzanne Collins’ novel and as passionate and exciting as the movie. But we are going to do it in our own way – in the theatre. We want our Hunger Games to be uniquely, thrillingly theatrical.”
